Sweet Cherry Pie

During our visit to Martignac last weekend, we were pleased to find that the cherry tree behind the Gales' house was ripe for the picking! We brought a bundle home with dreams of cherry pie. After consulting my mom for recipes, we turned out this delicious cherry tart- our first tart or pie ever- and it was pretty scrumptious!
Cherry Tart
Ingredients:
1 cup almond flour/ground almonds
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 stick butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 packaged raw pie dough
fresh picked cherries mixed with a little vanilla and sugar

Instructions:
Lay pie-dough in a 9" pie pan.
Mash up the ingredients to make an almond paste
Put the almond paste in bottom of pie dough
Add cherries on top
Bake at 375 for 30 minutes or until golden brown

It may not be the prettiest pie there ever was, but it sure was delicious! Not bad for our first try. We'll just have to keep practicing. Again, and again....
