Yesterday we packed up our things in Switzerland and hit the road for Orta San Guilio, Italy. We had to cross some pretty intense mountains to get here, but it was worth the twisting, turning, high altitude ride! These pictures are to give you an idea of just how high we were driving and all of the beautiful scenes we saw along the way. The route we took was through the Simplonpass and the Grimselpass, and we highly recommend taking this drive- if you are brave enough! All photos below were taken out of the car window.
The 4 hour drive to Italy was gorgeous yet intense, but Orta San Guilio made it worth the trip! This is a tiny lake in the Piemonte region of Italy, near Lago Maggiore and Lago di Como. However, since it is smaller and less well-known, there are fewer crowds, easy parking, and lower prices!

Caroline! This looks amazing! We used to do lots of crazy drives when we were visiting our family in Italy when I was younger. The roads were windy and curvy and through lots of mountains, but so so pretty. I haven't looked at all of your posts yet, but think that Days 10 and 14 sound and look awesome! Happy travels!
